During this pandemic I have spoken to several business owners and many have asked me the same question.

“Should I ease up on the company’s marketing during this pandemic?” The answer is NO. This is not the time to ease up. It’s time to double down. I understand that the revenue coming in might not be what it was but there are several ways that you can market your company that will not cost you an arm and a leg. Let your competitor mope around at home all they want. This is the time to get creative. Here are three marketing tips to follow during this hectic time.

Update Your Ads and Posts If you haven’t done so already, do it now. Change the current ads, make sure that at least one of them explains that your company is still open for business. Create a collage of your employees wearing headsets and at their work-from-home set up. This is the time to put faces on a brand. Customers will connect more with you if they see that you’re on the same boat as they are. Yet, you’re still open and ready to take their orders. Explain to them the safety measures that your company is taking during these times. Create videos that are relatable to your niche. If you’re the owner of a beauty salon, post a picture of what your nails currently look like (chipped and unpainted) and tell your clients to share their current situation. You’ll be surprised how many clients chime in with an “I miss you.”

Check Your PPC Spending As business owners we tend to forget about our Pay-Per-Click campaigns. Once they’re up and running and we have seen good results we just tend to let them be. Big mistake. This is the perfect time to go through your campaigns and see where you can improve. Add new keywords, change the media on your ads, create new video ads. I’ve realized that the cost per click lately has not been as high as it was before for many of my clients. You can choose to lower it a little and save some dough.

Write Your Heart Out Many of us have realized that we have more time on our hands than before. This time should be used to write content. If you don’t have a blog this is the time to start one. Have everyone in the office write a blurb or a full piece that is relatable to the industry that you are in. Content is key when it comes to SEO. Don’t worry, your favorite Netflix shows will still be there when you’re done.

Video marketing is growing in popularity and you have to take advantage of the fact that the majority of your clients have more time on their hands. If you have shyed away from video before, now is the time to break out of it. Social media platforms are more likely to feed your videos to more people. Adding captions to your videos are also a huge plus since some of us scroll through the net in bed while our partners are sleeping. Social media "LIVES" are also very popular and super easy to record!
